Armagnac in figures

Armagnac, its region, its countryside and the men and women that maintain its flame every day of the year are renowned for their excellence. 

Many people all around the world taste it and know every perfume and every aroma, though do you know the key figures that reflect its continuing success ?

 

3 as in the number of Armagnac terroirs (production zones):Haut-Armagnac, Bas-Armagnac, and Armagnac-Ténarèze.

10as in the number of grape varieties permitted in AOC Armagnac.  However, only 4 varieties are widely and regularly used : Ugni blanc, Baco, Folle Blanche and Colombard.

40 as in the minimum alcohol percentage in a bottle of Armagnac.

52% as in the percentage of bottles that were exported in 2015 – whilst the rest is sold in France.

100 as in the number of foreign countries where Armagnac is distributed – an international reputation.

700 as in the number of years that Armagnac has existed, the oldest of French brandies.

1000 as in the number of winegrowers that work daily in their vines in order to guarantee the best quality of the grapes to be used in the production of eau-de-vie.

5000 as in the number of hectares used for the production of Armagnac each year.
