 The International Wine and Spirit Competition revealed the Spirits Awards results at a special tasting last night in London.
Janneau Armagnac based in Condom was awarded an incredible six medals including a Gold Best in Class for its VSOP (Tasting notes: Fruity, well balanced with a luscious bouquet of vanilla and prune aromas. Clean and fresh. A perfect example of what a natural VSOP should be. Highly recommended), 3 Silver Best in Class for its 8 year old, 12 year old and 18 year old Armagnacs in the recently launched Single Distillery range, Silver for its XO and the 25 year old in the Single Distillery range.
Bas-Armagnac Castarède also scooped a Gold Best in Class for its 1973 vintage (Tasting note: Elegant and refined. A superb balance of wood and fruit. A rich rancio character. Earthy, mushroom, fruit, marmalade. Multilayered, complex. A stunning old Armagnac).
Marquis de Montesquiou in Eauze won a Silver Best in Class for its Cuvée Louis 1er and a Bronze for its VSOP. Chateau du Tariquet Bas-Armagnac also won Silver Best in Class for its XO and a Bronze for its VSOP. Chateau du Lacquy was presented with Silver for its 1991 vintage and Sainsburys achieved a Silver medal for its Taste the Difference 12 year old.
